Bende 2027: It Seems As Though APC Is Scared Of Ofuji

Politics often reveals its deepest fears not through silence, but through relentless attacks. When a political party suddenly shifts its focus from selling its own achievements to repeatedly discussing one opponent, it raises a legitimate question: what exactly are they afraid of?

The recent statements and counter-statements from the APC regarding the 2027 Bende Federal Constituency election create that impression. Rather than concentrating solely on projecting the accomplishments of their candidate, the party has devoted significant energy to responding to Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso (Ofuji), his supporters, and the growing conversations surrounding his candidacy.

This is not an admission that APC is afraid. Rather, it is an observation that their political strategy increasingly appears defensive instead of confident.

If a candidate truly enjoys overwhelming popularity, the natural expectation is that his campaign would focus on presenting fresh ideas, defending his record with facts, and allowing the electorate to decide. Constantly attempting to diminish an opponent often has the unintended consequence of elevating that opponent in the minds of voters.

Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso did not suddenly become a household name because he declared interest in contesting an election. His reputation was built over many years through philanthropy, educational interventions, healthcare programmes, youth empowerment initiatives, and community development projects that have touched many lives across Bende Federal Constituency. These activities have been widely reported and have contributed to his growing political profile.

This explains why discussions about Ofuji continue to dominate political conversations across the constituency.

Democracy thrives on competition. Strong candidates should welcome robust contests because they provide voters with genuine choices. Elections should not become contests of propaganda or character assassination but competitions of ideas, vision, competence, integrity, and measurable service.

The people of Bende are politically mature. They can distinguish between political rhetoric and practical impact. They will evaluate every aspirant based on credibility, accessibility, empathy, performance, and capacity to represent their interests effectively.
