NFF Kicks Out Super Falcons Head Coach, Technical Crew After WAFCON Exit
The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has directed Super Falcons head coach, Justine Madugu and his technical crew to step down with immediate effect.
The NFF announced the decision in a short statement on its official X account.
“The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has asked members of the technical crew of the @NGSuper_Falcons to step down with immediate effect,” the statement said.
The sack follows Nigeria’s disappointing outing at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON.
The Super Falcons crashed out in the quarter-finals after a 1-0 loss to arch-rivals Cameroon.
Their bid for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup also took a hit after a 2-1 defeat to South Africa, which ruled Nigeria out of the inter-confederation playoffs.
Madugu had faced mounting pressure over the team’s performances throughout the tournament.
The NFF is yet to name replacements for Madugu and members of the technical crew.
The federation is expected to begin the search for a new coaching team ahead of Nigeria’s next international engagements.
