“Unite And Protect Your Communities Against Bandits”, Aguocha Urges Ndigbo

Hon. Obi Aguocha, the member representing Umuahia/Ikwuano Federal Constituency has rallied Ndigbo to forge a common front and protect their communities amid rising in security across the country, warning that criminal activities are gradually spreading into the South-East.

Aguocha who spoke during a strategic meeting with traditional rulers from Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South, said the region must act swiftly to prevent insecurity from becoming an uncontrollable menace as witnessed in other parts of the country.

His call is coming on the heels of recent cases of kidnappings involving indegenes of Ohuhu and other communities within his constituency, noting that some victims are still missing.

The lawmaker further urged traditional rulers across the constituency and the wider South-East to speak with one voice in demanding Kanu’s release, insisting that they must rise to the occasion in seeking a peaceful resolution to the matter and defending his rights, including his right to life, as he pledged to keep fighting for the release of the IPOB leader.

Hon. Obi Aguocha recalled his efforts during the court proceedings, saying he had advocated for a less severe outcome for Kanu rather than the harsher charges initially brought against him by the Federal Government.

He explained that following the recent appeal filed by Kanu’s legal team, the Federal Government responded with a cross-appeal, asking the court to revisit an earlier judgment which it argued was delivered in error by the previous presiding judge.

According to Aguocha, the government is insisting that the alleged error in the earlier ruling must first be addressed and corrected before the court can properly consider the appeal filed by Kanu’s lawyers.
