OOPOLY Students Fabricate Over 100 Seats For Osisioma Campus
Students of the Department of Welding and Fabrication, Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, are currently fabricating over 100 seats from scratch for use at the institution’s Osisioma Campus, as preparations intensify for the phased relocation of academic activities.

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Christopher Kalu Okoro, who disclosed this on Tuesday, said the initiative reflects the institution’s commitment to practical, hands-on training and efficient use of internal skills and talents.
At OOPOLY, according to the Rector, education goes beyond classroom teaching, as the institution believes in equipping students with practical skills, creativity and technical competence needed to solve real-life problems and contribute meaningfully to society.

“Beyond producing seats for the campus, our students are gaining valuable experience that will prepare them for professional practice, entrepreneurship and future employment,” Dr. Okoro stated.
He noted that following the commencement of academic activities at Osisioma Campus by the School of Environmental Design and Technology (SEDT) in April 2026, the institution has continued to work towards expanding academic operations at the campus as part of its development plans.

Dr. Okoro revealed that six students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and one female student from the Business Administration and Management programme are currently undertaking a four-month industrial training with the Welding and Fabrication Department. They are expected to defend their industrial training reports in February 2027.
He commended lecturers, instructors and students involved in the fabrication project for their dedication, creativity and commitment to excellence.

“At OOPOLY, we are not merely training students to earn certificates; we are equipping them with practical skills to create, innovate, build and contribute to national development. The future belongs to institutions that turn knowledge into solutions, and we are determined to keep moving in that direction,” the Rector added.

He stressed that the Polytechnic is building skills, creating opportunities and preparing for greater heights.
