The National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Bende Local Government Area Chapter, has strongly condemned the recent political unrest in the area, describing it as a threat to the long-standing peace of the LGA.

In a statement issued on Saturday by its Coordinator, Comrade Ukomba Hossana, the Council said Bende has consistently remained one of the most peaceful LGAs in Abia State, where political transitions have occurred without disrupting the brotherhood among its people.

The youth body noted that power is bestowed by God through the people, stressing that it was time to showcase the legacy of peace that Bende is known for and allow the electorate to freely express support for candidates of their choice.

“The people of Bende will not be intimidated and will not succumb to any form of coercion in the forthcoming general election,” the statement read.

The Council further warned youths in the area not to allow themselves to be used as instruments of violence as the 2027 general election approaches, emphasizing that no individual is more important than the collective interest and welfare of the Bende people.

It also cautioned that if the political tension persists, it would have no choice but to address the issues through a world press conference.

“Enough is enough,” Comrade Hossana declared.
