Bende Grassroot Politics, Horse Trading Gathers Momentum

As the 2027 political stage is getting set, pundits have continued to reel out possible permutations for the polls.

One of the most complicated constituencies in Abia State is the Bende Federal Constituency — a constituency packed with the most formidable political gladiators of the time.

Political analysts suggest that the rising clamour for new leadership in Bende may not be unconnected to dissatisfaction with past representation, infrastructural concerns, and perceived under-service over the years.

Some constituents argue that repeated unmet promises have weakened public trust in traditional political actors. In that context, Anyaso’s profile as an entrepreneur and philanthropist appears to resonate with voters seeking credibility and tangible results.

When E. A. Adeboye once recounted how his mother used to bless him whenever he pleased her, she would often declare, “You will call one and a thousand will answer you.”

Years later, as the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, that prophetic declaration appeared symbolic of his influence. According to him, if he simply says, “Pastor, come,” without mentioning a name, several pastors respond — each believing the call was directed at them.

Observers in Bende Federal Constituency say a similar pattern of organic acceptance is gradually emerging around Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, popularly known as Ofuji, ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election.

Across communities in Bende — among youths, women, elders, farmers, artisans, and professionals — conversations about 2027 representation appear to be increasingly centered on Anyaso’s name.

Supporters describe him as “a bridge builder and unifier,” noting that his appeal cuts across partisan lines and demographic groups. Many constituents reportedly view him as “the most beautiful bride” in the political landscape — a metaphor suggesting broad-based acceptability.

Notably, Dr. Anyaso has never held an elective or appointed public office. However, his philanthropic footprint within the constituency has drawn attention.

Through personal initiatives and foundation-backed interventions, he is said to have: sponsored students through scholarship programs, supported farmers with grants, assisted petty traders and small business owners, paid hospital bills for vulnerable families, intervened in rural community development projects.

For many residents, these efforts reflect what they describe as “people-centered leadership” — prioritizing welfare over personal ambition, and measurable impact over political rhetoric.

With the 2027 general election still ahead, political alignments and party structures remain evolving. However, the early momentum within Bende Federal Constituency suggests that Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso may play a significant role in shaping the political conversation.

Whether this growing goodwill translates into electoral victory will ultimately depend on voter participation and the democratic process.

For now, what is evident is that conversations in Bende are shifting — and expectations are rising.
