“All Hope Not Lost’’ After ‘Inglorious’ Guber Primary, Henry Ikoh to Abia APC Faithful

All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship aspirant in Abia State, Chief Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh, has described the party’s recent governorship primary in the state as “inglorious” and “absurd,” urging stakeholders and supporters to remain calm as he seeks redress.

In an address to APC members, Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Ozurumba Movement, Old Ukwa-La-Ngwa Division, Ikoh Ndi Abia Organisation, and other support groups, Ikoh said he delayed his reaction to “articulate details of that sham called primary election” and engage party authorities on what he termed an “aberration.”

“We have intentionally, with deft commitment, laboured to cultivate robust organic followership through our numerous mobilization programs,” Ikoh stated.

He cited the work of Renewed Hope Ambassadors Abia State, noting “earthquaking tours of the 17 LGAs” and the engagement of 184 ward coordinators and 25 polling unit ambassadors across all electoral polling units in the state. The Ozurumba Movement, he added, has been “fervent in canvassing and mobilization stretching 3 years now.”

According to Ikoh, the Old Ukwa-La-Ngwa Division, Ikoh Ndi Abia Organisation, other support groups, and “teeming organic supporters, more especially our great party members,” have worked to build the party into “almost a movement.”

“I understand very clearly the pains in your hearts, the feeling of betrayal by those we call leaders and the frustration over the irresponsible and disgraceful manner the governorship primary was handled,” he said.

Despite the outcome, Ikoh insisted that “all hopes are not lost.” He disclosed that he has engaged the APC national leadership and submitted a petition to the Primary Election Appeal Panel.

“I most humbly, appreciating your love and cherished support, appeal to you to remain calm, it’s not over yet. It’s only God that has the final say in all things,” he told supporters.

“We cannot build a house and a stranger will come and push us out of it. Trust our efforts to get things right,” Ikoh added.

The APC governorship primary in Abia has generated controversy, with youth groups like the Abia APC Youth Vanguard earlier calling for a return to what they described as an “original consensus agreement” among stakeholders.

As of press time, the party’s National Working Committee has not issued a final decision on petitions arising from the Abia primary.
