The Managing Director of the Abia State Signage and Advertising Agency (ABSSAA), Mr. Godwin Adindu, says he has commenced field operations in line with his promise to be a street Managing Director.

Adindu disclosed in a statement on Thursday, October 29, 2026, that he led his team to the streets of Umuahia to inspect billboards across the capital city.

According to him, the exercise was aimed at acquainting himself with the location of every billboard, their owners and clients displaying on them, as well as confirming approvals and compliance with tariff and permit payments.

“I have to acquaint myself with the location of every billboard, their owners and the clients displaying on the billboards. I have to confirm approval for the billboards and also confirm those that are up to date in payment of tariff and permits,” he said.

He added that the inspection also covered the structural integrity of the billboards, compliance with approved standards, and fitness for outdoor advertising.

The exercise covered major roads and strategic locations within Umuahia, including Umuwaya Road, the Shoprite axis, Aba Road, Ubakala, Abia Tower, and Ossah Road.

Adindu explained that the inspection assessed the structural stability and foundation strength of the billboards to ensure they meet required safety standards and do not pose risks to members of the public.

He noted that billboard inspection is a periodic regulatory exercise undertaken by ABSSAA to ensure that existing advertising structures remain safe and that newly approved installations comply with established standards.

The exercise, he said, also underscores the Agency’s commitment to promoting responsible outdoor advertising, protecting public safety, and maintaining orderliness in the placement and management of advertising structures across Abia State.

“I was out there with my team,” the ABSSAA boss added.
