An Abia APC Chieftain, Hon. Obinna Bennett Ukanwoko has debunked the rumour making the rounds that the APC has zoned its Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal House of Representatives ticket to Umuahia North to favour a particular aspirant.

Speaking to newsmen in Umuahia on Friday, Ukanwoko described the rumour as “a fallacy”, urging the public to disregard the insinuations.

The former House of Representatives aspirant in the 2011 elections, said those peddling the “misinformation” are mischief makers, aiming at sowing seeds of discord and disaffection within the party.

“That is the fallacy of generalization. There’s no such thing. There has not been any meeting involved like that. I’m a critical stakeholder. And the fact that I’m running makes me even a super critical stakeholder. No such meeting. Nobody will call that meeting because the meeting will not hold. That is the work of mischief makers who wants to destabilize the party”.

“My message to other APC members is that if you want to win an election, under the leadership of the Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, APC has been reorganized. APC has drastically reformed. But let nobody get carried away. You cannot win an election if you start doing all these antiques that destroyed the PDP. Let us allow organic, credible, grassroots, based, as far as they emerge as candidates so that APC can win an election”.

His reaction is hinged on reports that have flooded the social media space that the APC held a stakeholders meeting during the week and agreed on zoning the ticket to Umuahia North Local Government Area, to favour one of the aspirants for the race.

The philanthropist posited that there was no such arrangement, adding that the leadership of the party has asked all aspirants to go for primary elections to test their popularity.

The Nsirimo born politician further disclosed his drive to join the race for Umuahia/Ikwuano Federal Constituency.

According to him, his decision to join the race was born out of renewed passion and hunger to drive transformation and bring a measurable impact to the people.

“So you asked me a question about what drove me to this? Bad representation. I am a champion of quality representation. I’ve traveled wide. A representative presents the people not himself. I’m not sure we have had any representative here who represented the people”.

“I have taught people that are following me. The message I tell people out there, I’ll be the first representative who will give stipends to every member of my constituency”.

“I’ll be the first who will purchase CNG powered busses. One in Ikwuano, one in Umuahia South and one in Umuahia North. In the first instance, they’ll be called “Ikwuano Line, Umuahia North line. Umuahia South Line. I will increase it as time goes on”.

“I want to believe that by the time I’ve done four years, there will be about 16 of that. They’ll be running free of charge”.

“People who were passing by have joined APC. They were not APC members. They came to me. When they heard my message, they joined APC because of my message. And they said my message is believable because it flows from the heart. I remember that’s who I am. God has done everything in my life. God has been sufficiently good, I am, grateful and blessed for today. So whatever I tell you is what I would do”.
