“Abam Land Is Not For Sale” – Abam Unity Assembly Debunks Rumours Of Land Ceding

The Abam Unity Assembly has described as false and mischievous the claims that there is a plan to cede Abam land to any company, urging residents to disregard what it called “rumours borne out of ignorance and misinformation.”

In a statement signed by the Secretary, Kalu O. Kalu, and Chairman, Okorie Uduma, the Assembly said the narrative was being pushed by desperate politicians to “play with the emotions of our people.”

“The narrative that a plan is in place to cede out Abam land is false and borne out of ignorance and misinformation aimed at misleading the people,” the statement read.

“Our Relationship With Gov. Otti Is Cordial”

The group said the relationship between Abam people and the Abia State Government under Dr. Alex Otti remains cordial, noting that the community has “benefited massively” from the current administration.

“Our resolve to continue supporting the government can’t be distracted by narratives aimed at misinforming our people and painting our leaders in dirty colours,” it added.

The Assembly clarified that no government aide is involved in any attempt to cede Abam land to any company.

According to the statement, any company in need of land must follow due process by approaching families and individuals directly.

“Any company in need of land must approach the families and individuals, that’s the right thing. So the idea of suggesting that any government official is attempting to compromise is false,” the group said.

Call To Traditional Rulers, PGs

The Abam Unity Assembly called on Ndi Eze Ogo Abam and Presidents General across Abam communities to rise up and caution those spreading the rumours.

“The PGs should resist the attempt to use them as no plan is underway for such action,” the statement urged.

The group described the reports as “a great case of false alarm deployed by desperate politicians,” and appealed to Abam sons and daughters both at home and in the diaspora to remain united and focused on development.

“We will not allow falsehood to divide us. Let us continue to support a government that has shown commitment to Abia people,” it concluded.
