Police Repel Bandit Attack In Katsina, Recover Firearms, Stolen Vehicles In Rivers, Kano, Anambra, Others

The Nigeria Police Force says its operatives recorded significant operational successes across several states between 10th and 13th August, 2026, with arrests, recoveries of firearms, stolen vehicles and the repulsion of a bandit attack.

This was contained in a State-by-State Executive Summary released on Friday, August 14, 2026, and signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu.

KATSINA: Bandit Attack Repelled, Motorcycle Recovered

On 12th August, police operatives in Katsina responded to a coordinated attack by heavily armed bandits who invaded neighbouring villages and rustled livestock.

According to the statement, security operatives engaged the bandits in a sustained gun duel, compelling them to flee into the bush with suspected gunshot injuries.
One operational motorcycle belonging to the bandits was recovered during clearance operations.

Also on 12th August in Katsina, police arrested three suspected members of a vehicle theft syndicate and recovered a golden-coloured Volkswagen Golf Wagon allegedly stolen from Garko LGA, Kano State. Two fabricated master keys were also recovered.

RIVERS
Between 10th–11th August in Port Harcourt, operatives on patrol along Ada-George arrested a suspect allegedly posing as a military officer and involved in vehicle theft.

Four suspected stolen vehicles were recovered. An axe, military accoutrements, and vehicles with tampered chassis and engine numbers were also found.

KANO:
On 13th August, police acting on credible intelligence arrested five suspected armed robbers in Jajaye LGA. The suspects confessed to stealing about five motorcycles and other valuables.

In a separate operation same day in Kano, operatives intercepted a suspicious parcel at Rijiyar Zaki Motor Park and recovered one Tokarev pistol loaded with 48 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition. The arrested suspect disclosed the arms were being forwarded to an individual in Kebbi State.

ANAMBRA:
On 13th August, police on stop-and-search duty at Isuanaocha Bridge intercepted two suspects on an unregistered motorcycle. The suspects abandoned the motorcycle and a bag and fled into the bush.

Two fabricated Beretta pistols were recovered from the abandoned bag alongside other items.

OSUN:
On 12th August in Okuku, police intervened in a dispute and conducted a search of a white Hilux vehicle belonging to a suspect, recovering one single-barrel gun.

KWARA:
Also on 12th August, police responded swiftly to a violent dispute at Elere Village, Bani, and brought the situation under control. Two persons who sustained injuries were evacuated to hospital for treatment.
