Echezona Street Vanguard Backs Otti for the Abia’s Top Job

Echezona Street Vanguard, a socio-political group in Abia State has endorsed Dr Alex Otti as their sole candidate for the Abia State Governorship election in 2027.

The adoption of Otti was the outcome of the group’s expanded meeting on Sunday, 5th June 2026, whic brought together all Street, Clan, and Ward Coordinators.

In his address, the Chairman of the group for Umuahia Zone, Hon. Ejike Urama urged members to remain committed to the ideals of the movement by truly embodying its vision, reminding them of the state of Abia before the emergence of Dr. Alex Otti as governor.

He explained why the name “Echezona” was chosen by the Founder, Dr. Christian Anokwuru.

On his part, the Chairman for Aba Zone, Mr. Michael Amaku, emphasized that politics is a collective responsibility and not a one-man venture. He underscored the need for continuous expansion of the group’s membership, noting that although the Executive Governor may not need to campaign extensively ahead of the 2027 general elections, members must intensify grassroots engagement, including reaching out to members of other political parties, as a way to market the achievements of the present administration, and encourage them to join the Labour Party in Abia State.

Also speaking, the Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Abia State on Industries and SMEs, Lady Chinwe Kalu Uba, expressed delight at the initiative and commended members for their dedication to the growth of the movement.

She charged every Echezona member to take full ownership of the streets under their coordination, stressing that the word “Street” should be interpreted in its literary sense.

According to her, every street across Umuahia, Aba, and the adjoining local government areas must be effectively organized and mobilized, with members knowing one another and working together as one united political family.

Lady Chinwe who represented the founder of Echezona Street Vanguard, Dr. Christian Anokwuru further disclosed that the meeting also served as an avenue to strategically streamline and strengthen the group’s organizational structure in readiness for the 2027 general elections.

She explained that building a more coordinated and efficient structure from the grassroots would position Echezona Street Vanguard to play a leading role in securing victory for the Labour Party across Abia State and consolidating the party’s dominance at every level.

She then urged members to intensify voter education and mobilization by ensuring that every eligible voter obtains a Permanent Voter Card (PVC) and actively participate in the re-election of Dr. Alex Otti, emphasizing that sustained grassroots engagement remained the surest path to electoral success.
