2027: Organised Labour, CSOs Collapse Structures for Dr. Chima Anyaso in Bende

Organised Labour and Civil Society stakeholders in Bende LGA have formally adopted Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, popularly known as “OFUJI”, as their sole candidate for the 2027 Bende Federal Constituency House of Representatives election under the Labour Party.

The adoption was announced on Friday, August 28, 2026, at a stakeholders’ meeting held at Toxydon Hotel and Suites, Umuagu Ibeku, Umuahia.

Comrade Mayor Emeka Joseph Ugboaja, Head of Information, NUEE, said the Labour Movement was backing one of its own. He recalled that the late NLC Secretary-General, Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja, had before his death directed that Labour should deliver Dr. Anyaso in 2027.

“Today, we have done it that Dr. Chima Anyaso is the only candidate for the Organised Labour Movement and Civil Society, and all other structures should be collapsed in favour of OFUJI,” Comrade Ugboaja declared.

Also speaking, Comrade Chile Agubuche, representing the NLC General Secretary, said the directive from Labour House, Abuja, was for all Labour structures in Bende to be collapsed for Dr. Anyaso. He added that Labour and CSOs would mobilise, sensitise voters and campaign across communities.

The Civil Society Stakeholders, in an address presented by Comrade C.E. Achonye, Executive Director, Women in Politics Network, cited Dr. Anyaso’s interventions through the Cedes Foundation in youth empowerment, philanthropy and community development as reasons for their support.

They also requested logistical support, including a vehicle, to aid grassroots mobilisation.

In his response, Dr. Anyaso described the endorsement as historic. He paid tribute to the late Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja and assured that he would not let Labour down.

“I assure you that I will not let the Labour Union down. The same way our Governor has performed in Abia State, that is the same way I will perform in Bende,” he said.
