The senator representing Abia Central at the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly, Senator Austin Akobundu has flagged off the construction of a new solar-powered water borehole for immediate commencement.

Senator Akobundu who arrived at the Ohuhu Ikeala Nsulu August Meeting as the Special Guest of Honour on Saturday with engineers and equipment in tow, declared that he came prepared.

“I came fully prepared. We are not returning tomorrow to start the work. We are starting immediately.”

He assured the crowd the project would be completed in two weeks and commissioned within one month.

The contractor also confirmed that full payment had been made and pledged delivery in two weeks, with two years of free maintenance.

The announcement triggered wild jubilation, with chants of “Ekwueme!” filling the hall.

The Senator also pledged to upgrade the meeting hall before Christmas and urged the women to prepare more requests.

“Prepare your requests. When I return in pursuit of my aspirations, we will tick them off one by one,” he said.

He further urged the community to thank Governor Alex Otti for “taking over and continuing” the Ntalakwu-Oloko-Nchara Oloko road, which he noted he had earlier started, expressing confidence it would be delivered before Christmas.

After the meeting, the people moved with the Senator to the project site where he performed the flag-off. At the site, he restated his “politics of action” mantra: “Leadership is measured by impact, not billboards or promises.”

The Traditional Ruler, Eze Sir PC Ugbogu, through his Prime Minister, adopted Senator Akobundu as a son of the soil and prayed for his aspirations.

Community leaders described the gesture as unprecedented.

“We have never seen this kind from the political class,” a speaker said.

Hon. Matthew Chinwogu Ogbonna declared: “Because you promised us water today and you also fulfilled it today, consider all the polling units in Ohuhu Ikeala Nsulu as your victory zones. We will return you victorious in all of them.”

The women also appreciated the Senator for honouring their invitation and pledged their support.
