2027: Blessing Ugbor Unveils Manifesto, Says Nkechi Nwogu Is Not A Member Of NDC
Hon. Evangelist Blessing Dorothy Ugbor who is challenging the Abia Central Senatorial Ticket of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has unveiled her manifesto, pledging to serve the district with love, transparency and accountability if elected.
In her manifesto made available to newsmen, Ugbor said her primary duty as Senator would be to represent the interests, yearnings and well-being of her constituents at the federal level, alongside core legislative and oversight responsibilities.
She faulted what she described as a pattern where past representatives only return to the people during election periods to seek votes, alleging vote-buying, intimidation and inducement when rejected.
Ugbo who described the publishing of the name of Senator Nkechi Nwogu by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as questionable, alleged that Senator Nwogu is not a member of the NDC and did not participate in the party’s primary election.
The evangelist claimed that the name of Senator Nkechi Nwogu is not in the INEC register as a member of the NDC, rather the name of the former lawmaker was found in APC register submitted to INEC.
While the matter is in court, Ugbor promised that if elected, she would ensure that the dividends due to Abia Central get to the people without diversion.
According to her, love for the people and love for God remain the guiding principles of her aspiration, quoting Matthew 22:36-40. She promised not to divert constituency allowances and to ensure open communication on activities at the National Assembly.
“If I love you my people of Abia Central, I will not steal your constituency allowance, I will not deny you your right to know the activities going on at the National Assembly,” she said.
The evangelist stated that her motivation for seeking elective office is service and not personal gain, adding that God has already blessed her with fame, shelter and sustenance.
On her programmes, she said her representation would focus on youth empowerment through skills training, educational support including scholarships and financial aids for students, agricultural programmes and traders’ support schemes for women.
She also pledged to work towards restoring the dignity and economic standing of men in the district through support in business, skills acquisition, civil service and other spheres, as well as instilling godly values in children.
“I have something in my hands that my other brothers don’t have. I have the word of God. The word of God is truth,” she said.
The aspirant urged constituents to look beyond material inducements such as money, food and drinks during electioneering and instead assess the character and track record of aspirants.
She likened her aspiration to a divine assignment received since 2010, expressing optimism that her time has come, and referenced biblical examples of prophecies that came to pass.
“In this season 2027, Abia Central Senatorial District shall rejoice,” she added.
