2027: “Bende South Deserves New Direction” —Ikpechukwu Emeka Loveday Rejects Third Term Bid For Current Lawmaker

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Abia State, Ikpechukwu Emeka Loveday, has called on the people of Bende South Constituency to reject what he described as “a third term of excuses and mismanagement,” ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday in Bende, Loveday, who is contesting the Bende South State Constituency under the slogan “The Joint Ticket: You and Me,” said public office is a sacred trust that must be earned through performance and not retained indefinitely.

The Bende South aspirant questioned the rationale behind the incumbent’s alleged bid for another term, saying the constituency deserves purposeful leadership.

“A third term of excuses, incompetence, and the continued mismanagement of the commonwealth of Ndi Bende? Public office exists to serve the people — not personal interests or political comfort. Leadership is about delivering results, not occupying a seat indefinitely,” he stated.

Loveday argued that it is honorable for any representative who has served their time to “take a bow and allow fresh ideas and renewed energy to move our constituency forward.”

Directing his message to the current member representing Bende South, he said the tenure of the lawmaker has run its course.

“To the current Member representing Bende South Constituency: your tenure has run its course. Bende South deserves a new direction, a new vision, and purposeful leadership — not another round of excuses,” he said.

He stressed that representation is a mandate given by the people that must be continually earned through *performance, accessibility, and accountability*, and not treated like a civil service appointment.

Loveday concluded by rallying support for his candidacy, saying the people of Bende South must vote for change in 2027.

“The time has come for the people of Bende South to truly feel represented. Bende South will be OK!” he declared.

The statement has already generated reactions across the constituency, with many youths and stakeholders calling for issue-based campaigns ahead of the 2027 Abia State House of Assembly elections.
