“Tinubu’s Military Salary Hike Will Boost Morale, Shows Commitment To Troops’ Welfare” – Ex-Minister Ikoh
Former Minister of State for Science and Technology, Hon. Chief Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh, has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving a major salary increase for personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
President Tinubu had approved a new salary structure for the military effective September 1, 2026, which provides 80 percent increase for personnel from Private to Staff Sergeant, 50 percent for Warrant Officer to Colonel, and 30 percent for officers above Colonel, including Generals.
In a statement issued on Monday, Ikoh, who is the Abia State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, described the decision as a step in the right direction.
According to him, improved welfare and conditions of service will strengthen the morale and operational effectiveness of security personnel.
“This development demonstrates attention to the welfare of those who risk their lives in the service of the nation,” Ikoh said.
He reaffirmed his support for policies and programmes under the Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly those relating to security, citizens’ welfare and national development.
