The NDC in Bende and the Display of Agberoism

How did we get here?

In any sane society where the rule of law is supreme and the will of the people is respected, those who deliberately thwart a democratic process for selecting candidates to represent the people should be hiding their faces in shame.

Democracy is built on participation, transparency, and the freedom of the people to choose their leaders. When these principles are undermined, the very foundation of the system is weakened, and public trust is eroded.

The process that brings anyone to power must be legitimate, transparent, and democratic. Power acquired through manipulation, intimidation, or the subversion of due process lacks moral authority and ultimately betrays the people it claims to serve.

The people have the right to choose those who will represent them, and they equally have the right to reject any decision that does not reflect their collective will. No individual or group should arrogate to themselves the power to impose candidates or dictate outcomes contrary to the wishes of party members and the electorate.

The events that have unfolded in NDC Bende raise serious questions about our commitment to democratic values. If we truly desire a better political culture, then accountability, fairness, and respect for due process must prevail over impunity and political agberoism.

The voice of the people remains the cornerstone of democracy, and no amount of manipulation can permanently silence it.
