Shettima Departs Abuja For Angola, Represents Tinubu At AU Summit

Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Luanda, Angola, to represent President Bola Tinubu at the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.

Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications to the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, in a statement said the summit will focus on strategies for conflict resolution and advancement of lasting peace and stability across the continent.

Shettima will join African leaders and other stakeholders in the Angolan capital to discuss practical solutions to regional security challenges and strengthen collective efforts towards conflict prevention and resolution.

According to the Presidency, Nigeria will contribute to deliberations on strengthening continental mechanisms for preventing conflicts, resolving disputes and sustaining peace, given its strategic role in peacebuilding across Africa.

The Vice President, accompanied by senior defence and security officials, is expected to deliver President Tinubu’s address outlining Nigeria’s position on issues under consideration.

He is expected to return to Nigeria at the conclusion of the summit.
