It’s pointless arguing with people who are paid to have an opinion.

Watching the Chairman of Bende Local Government Area on ARISE News casually chewing when I just received reports that pupils in Amoji Imenyi Community School still lack desks and basic learning facilities is deeply heartbreaking.

This is not politics. This is about children.
This is about the future of a rural community that deserves the same attention and dignity as every other part of Abia State.

It is painful that the only community school in Amoji has had to rely heavily on contributions and sacrifices from ordinary people just to remain functional. A community reportedly spending over ₦500,000 recently to keep a public school alive should worry every sincere leader.

When questions are asked about governance at the local level, they are often dismissed as criticism or opposition. But asking what tangible impact leadership is making is not hatred; it is accountability. Beyond office ceremonies, endorsements, photo sessions, and praise singing, the people deserve to see real development that touches lives directly.

We hear about smart schools across the state, yet some communities are still struggling for the basics: desks, classrooms, and a conducive learning environment. How do children compete in a modern world when even the foundation of learning is neglected?

The truth is simple: leadership must be felt where the people suffer the most. Development should not end in press statements or television appearances. It must reach the classrooms, the villages, and the forgotten communities.

I sincerely hope urgent attention is given to Amoji Imenyi Community School and other neglected schools across Bende. Our children deserve better.
