“Don’t Over Exert Yourself, You Can’t Defeat Otti In 2027”, Ememanka Warns PDP Guber Candidate

The Director General of the Abia State Bureau of Strategic Communication, Onyebuchi Ememanka, has said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, gubernatorial candidate in Abia State, Dr. Kelechi Anosike, poses no threat to Governor Alex Otti’s re-election in 2027.

Ememanka, in a statement issued on Thursday, September 17, 2026, described Anosike as his close friend from their days at the Law Faculty of Abia State University, saying that makes it difficult for him to take on him frontally.

“The PDP Gubernatorial Candidate in Abia State, Dr. Kelechi Anosike is a very good friend of mine. He is my guy. My correct guy. He is a nice guy too,” Ememanka said.

He explained that his second reason for restraint is his history with the PDP, which he said sheltered him and gave him a platform, and which he promised not to confront after leaving.

Ememanka however advised Anosike, fondly called KC Prof, to be guided in his public statements.

“First, Dr Anosike and the PDP are no threats whatsoever in this election. This is the simple truth. The PDP of today is a complete shadow of itself and no one, not even her present members expect any major impact in the 2027 election,” he said.

Reacting to Anosike’s recent radio and Arise TV interviews, Ememanka faulted the PDP candidate’s claim that he was not part of the PDP that governed Abia for 24 years and that all those who were part of that era have left for APC, ADC and Labour Party.

“I concede that KC Prof is new, not only in the PDP but in politics generally but what he doesn’t know is that he is the only new person in the PDP. The oldies are still there. Did his running mate, Abraham Amah suddenly fall from the sky?” Ememanka queried.

He described Anosike’s Arise TV appearance, where he thanked FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and other party leaders when asked how he would defeat Otti, as a tactical blunder that sent wrong signals about his independence.

Ememanka also faulted Anosike’s comments on the justice sector, insisting that the Otti administration has recorded major reforms in the Judiciary and Ministry of Justice.

“In the Abia State Judiciary, salaries and allowances of Judges, Magistrates and other staff have been improved and standardized. As at today, the least paid worker of the Abia State Judiciary earns higher than the National Minimum Wage,” he said, adding that capacity building and conference attendance for lawyers, judges and magistrates are now fully funded.

He advised his friend to focus on building for the future rather than expecting victory in 2027.

“In this particular election, please don’t over exert yourself. Just make a decent attempt and that will be good enough. Anyone telling you that you will defeat Governor Otti is deceiving you. Watch your expenditure too,” Ememanka said.

He urged Anosike to arm himself with accurate data before national TV interviews, citing his figures on civil servants and claims of four judiciary strikes in three years as incorrect.
