Bende Federal Constituency Deserves Better Come 2027: How Can a Federal Lawmaker Pay His Drivers ₦40,000 Yet Support a ₦70,000 Minimum Wage?

Leadership is measured not merely by speeches delivered on the floor of parliament but by the values demonstrated in everyday conduct. The true test of public service is whether a leader practices the principles he publicly advocates.

One question deserves an honest answer: How can a federal lawmaker who supported the ₦70,000 national minimum wage justify paying his personal drivers only ₦40,000?

The ₦70,000 minimum wage was enacted to protect the dignity of Nigerian workers and ensure that no employee is subjected to exploitative remuneration. It represents a legal and moral commitment to improving workers’ welfare.

If the reports that drivers are being paid ₦40,000 are accurate, then this raises serious concerns about consistency between public policy and personal conduct. Leadership demands that those who make laws should be among the first to obey both the letter and the spirit of those laws.

One cannot convincingly advocate better welfare for Nigerian workers while denying fair compensation to those who work closest to them. Such a contradiction weakens public confidence and raises legitimate questions about sincerity.

The people of Bende Federal Constituency deserve a representative whose compassion extends beyond public speeches into the lives of those who serve him daily. A representative who values human dignity should reflect that value in his employment practices.

As 2027 approaches, voters must evaluate not only campaign promises but also character. They should ask a simple question: Does this leader practice what he preaches?

Bende deserves representation built on integrity, fairness, accountability, and genuine respect for the dignity of labour. Our votes should reward consistency, not contradiction.

If we truly desire a better future for Bende Federal Constituency, then we must choose leaders whose private actions reflect their public convictions.
