Abia Govt To Hold 5-Day Orientation For New Teachers Sept 7

The Abia State Government will conduct a mandatory five-day orientation for newly recruited teachers from September 7 to 12, 2026.

The Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, disclosed this on Monday while briefing journalists on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti at Government House, Umuahia.

Kanu said the training will hold at Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, and Federal Government Girls’ College, Umuahia, with participants expected to select their preferred venue through the Ministry of Basic Education portal.

He explained that the orientation will expose the new teachers to the responsibilities and expectations of public servants, the vision and strategic direction of education under the Otti administration, as well as modern learner-centred teaching methods.

According to him, participants will also be trained in digital literacy, classroom technology, data-driven teaching tools, STEM methodologies and vocational alignment, with experts in various fields as resource persons.
