Abia Govt Takes ‘Future Ready’ Value Orientation Campaign To Arochukwu
The Abia State Orientation Agency (ABSOA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, has taken its Value Orientation and Attitudinal Change Programme to Arochukwu Local Government Area.

The programme, themed “Future Ready”, is part of the state government’s sustained drive to instill positive values, promote responsible behaviour and accelerate youth development across the state.
Speaking at the event, the Director General of ABSOA, Lady Ure Abazie, charged youths to be intentional about their choices, warning that decisions taken today will shape their future opportunities, relationships and life outcomes.

She urged them to uphold integrity, think critically before acting, verify information before sharing, and remain committed to doing what is right at all times.
In his remarks, the Mayor of Arochukwu LGA, Engr. Dr. Okereke Eze Aru, commended Governor Alex Otti for revitalising the orientation agency and providing visionary leadership centered on youth empowerment and intellectual development.

According to him, the knowledge and skills imparted through the programme would significantly enhance the personal and professional growth of the beneficiaries. He also expressed optimism about the re-election of Governor Otti, stating that victory was certain, and that Labour Party candidates would enjoy massive support from the electorate.
Also speaking, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Vulnerable Groups and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs. Ifeoma Thomas, and the Special Assistant on Industry and SMEs, Lady Chinwe Kanu-Uba, encouraged youths to leverage the various empowerment and development opportunities created by the Otti administration.

They warned against involvement in social vices, including drug abuse and gender-based violence, which could truncate their future aspirations, and urged them to embrace productive ventures, acquire relevant skills and position themselves to benefit from government programmes.
The event featured educative sessions by resource persons drawn from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the National Orientation Agency (NOA), legal and health professionals, tertiary institutions and the Information Technology sector.

Topics covered included drug abuse prevention, legal awareness, educational advancement, artificial intelligence, digital skills and healthy living.
Participants were also sensitised on the recent Ebola case recorded in the country and advised to maintain good personal hygiene. They were further encouraged to take advantage of the ongoing distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and to actively participate in the electoral process.

Traditional rulers, local government representatives, youth groups and other stakeholders attended the programme.
