C2E Sports Academy Crowned 2026 NWFL Nationwide Champions After 2-1 Win Over Obosa Queens FA in Aba

C2E Sports Academy are champions of the 2026 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Nationwide after edging Obosa Queens FA 2-1 in a thrilling final at the Enyimba Stadium, Aba.

The victory brought the curtain down on the 2025/2026 NWFL season and completed the league’s three-tier calendar, following the earlier conclusion of the Premiership and Championship campaigns.

The Nationwide final was a contest of ambition and nerve, played in front of a lively crowd in Aba.

C2E Sports Academy came out fast. Agnes Ohuche broke the deadlock in the 11th minute with a composed finish. The momentum continued and Nina Ude doubled the lead in the 30th minute, putting C2E firmly in control.

Obosa Queens FA refused to go quietly. They came out firing after the break and Saidat Idowu pulled one back just 2 minutes into the second half, in the 47th minute, to set up a tense finish.

But C2E held firm. Despite late pressure from Obosa, the Academy’s defense and midfield stood strong to see out the 2-1 win and lift the trophy.

Beyond the trophy, the final had bigger stakes.
The result confirmed promotion for both finalists to the NWFL Championship for the 2026/2027 season.

It marks a huge step forward for both C2E Sports Academy and Obosa Queens FA, rewarding two seasons of hard work and giving their players a platform at a higher level of Nigerian women’s football.

The 2026 NWFL Nationwide ran from August 16 to 23 at Enyimba Stadium and featured 12 ambitious clubs from across the country. The competition is designed as the entry point of the NWFL structure, giving emerging female footballers a chance to showcase their talent and fight for promotion.

NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi, described the tournament as another important milestone for the growth of the women’s game in Nigeria.

“We are delighted with the success of the NWFL Nationwide 2026. The competition has shown that there is enormous talent across the country and that, with the right structure and opportunities, these young women can develop into the stars of tomorrow,” Shabi said.

She also expressed appreciation to the Abia State Government and the Abia State Football Association for hosting the championship.

“I would like to sincerely appreciate the Abia State Government and its Football Association for the tremendous support and hospitality extended to the NWFL, the participating clubs and everyone involved in the championship. Hosting a competition of this magnitude requires strong institutional support, and Abia State demonstrated that commitment,” she added.

Reflecting on the full season, Shabi commended everyone who contributed to making the Premiership, Championship and Nationwide tiers a success — from clubs, players and coaches to match officials, medical teams, volunteers, media and partners.

“It has been a long and demanding season, but together we have continued to strengthen the structure and pathway for women’s football in Nigeria,” she said.

The NWFL also congratulated C2E Sports Academy on their championship triumph and Obosa Queens FA on an impressive campaign, while officially welcoming both clubs to the Championship.

With the 2025/2026 season now complete, attention turns to next year where C2E and Obosa will begin life in the NWFL Championship, and a new set of 12 teams will battle for promotion in the Nationwide.
