Osun 2026: NSCDC Pledges Commitment to Peaceful Election

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has visited Osun State to assess security preparedness ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

In a statement signed by the Corps’ Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commandant of Corps Babawale Afolabi, the CG said the visit was to ensure seamless coordination and the protection of lives and property before, during, and after the polls.

During the visit, CG Audi met with the Chief Security Officer of the state, Governor Ademola Adeleke, at the Government House in Osogbo.

He reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to ensuring a peaceful, free, fair, and credible election, and pledged to protect critical national assets and infrastructure through close collaboration with other security agencies.

Governor Adeleke commended the CG for the personal operational visit and lauded the NSCDC for its steadfast role in safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure across the state.

The Commandant General also visited the INEC State Headquarters in Osogbo, where he met with the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola.
He assured the Commission of the Corps’ full operational support and issued a stern warning to potential vandals and election troublemakers.

At the NSCDC Osun State Command Headquarters, CG Audi addressed officers and men deployed for election duties.

He reminded personnel of the Corps’ mandate in national security and warned them against being “trigger-happy.” He stressed strict adherence to the rules of engagement and professionalism throughout the electoral process.

The NSCDC is expected to deploy thousands of personnel across the 30 LGAs of Osun State to provide security at polling units, collation centers, and INEC facilities on election day.
