Osun 2027: IGP Deploys CP Samuel Etaifo As Election Commissioner Of Police

The Nigeria Police Force, NPF, has deployed Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel Erale Etaifo, to Osun State as CP Elections ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.

The Force announced the deployment in a statement issued on Friday, July 31, 2026, by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu.

According to the statement, the deployment is part of the Force’s comprehensive election security strategy aimed at ensuring a peaceful, secure, and credible electoral process in Osun.

CP Etaifo will oversee and coordinate election security operations across the state. He is expected to work in collaboration with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to safeguard voters, election officials, and electoral materials.

The NPF clarified that the Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, CP Ibrahim Gotan, remains in charge of the Command.

He will continue to supervise routine policing activities and provide administrative and operational support for the CP Elections.

The Force reminded all personnel deployed for election duties to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, neutrality, and strict compliance with the law, including the Code of Conduct for Security Personnel on Electoral Duty.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, also urged members of the public, political actors, and all stakeholders to remain peaceful and law-abiding.

“We urge full cooperation with security agencies in ensuring a safe, credible, and successful electoral process,” the IGP stated.
