NDC: Group Accuses LGA Chairman of Financial Mismanagement, Calls for Immediate Sack

UMUNNEOCHI – The crisis in the National Democratic Congress, NDC, Umunneochi LGA chapter, deepened on Wednesday as a support group within the NDC, Umunneochi Hope Alliance, called for the immediate sack or resignation of the party’s LGA Chairman, Mr. Chikadibia Moses.

In a strongly worded statement issued after an emergency meeting in Nkwoagu, the group accused Mr. Moses of “anti-party activities, financial mismanagement, and gross misconduct” that it said were threatening the unity and electoral fortunes of the NDC in Umunneochi.

“The continued stay of Mr. Chikadibia Moses as LGA Chairman has become untenable,” the statement read. “His actions amount to a betrayal of the trust reposed in him by party members and a clear sabotage of the NDC’s collective interest in Umunneochi.”

Umunneochi Hope Alliance alleged that the chairman engaged in anti-party activities during the last ward mobilization exercises, diverted funds meant for party operations, and ran the LGA executive without transparency or accountability.

The group further claimed that Mr. Moses’ “gross misconduct” had alienated key stakeholders and grassroots members, weakening the party’s structure across the 10 wards in Umunneochi.

“Financial mismanagement has become the order of the day. Dues and donations from members cannot be accounted for, and decisions are taken without consultation,” a spokesperson for the group, Mr Ike Francis, said.

Call for Action
The Alliance called on the Abia State Working Committee of the NDC to “act swiftly by sacking Mr. Chikadibia Moses or compelling his immediate resignation” to save the party from further embarrassment.

“Umunneochi NDC cannot afford to go into the next election cycle with a divided house. We demand leadership that is transparent, loyal, and accountable,” the statement added.

The group warned that failure to address the issues would compel it to “explore all lawful options” to rescue the party in the LGA.

As of press time, Mr. Chikadibia Moses had not responded to the allegations. Efforts to reach him for comment were unsuccessful.

The Abia State NDC Secretariat in Umuahia also declined to comment, saying the party would respond “at the appropriate time.”
