Afaraukwu Demolition Controversy: Hon. Anthony Chinasa Addresses Community Members

As controversy continues to trail the demolition of shanties in the Afaraukwu area of the Abia capital city, the member representing Umuahia Central State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Anthony Chinasa (Abiola), visited the area to address the situation and also clarify the misleading report that is spreading on social media.

The Lawmaker stated unequivocally that the situation should not be used by some shenanigans to score cheap political points.

According to the Chinasa, “it is a pity that some people are hurrying to take an undue political advantage of the situation”, stating that the government of Dr. Alex Otti is not interested in the land in question neither did the deputy governor, Eng . Ikechukwu Emetu acquired the land in the said location.

Nevertheless, the lawmaker called for calm why assuring those affected of the government intervention after due investigation.

The Traditional Prime Minister of the community, Chief Sir Felix Onyemaechi, Youth President and the President general, Okezie Chigozie Nnamdi, while speaking on behalf of the community, denied the action of the governorship candidate of the AAC, Doris Ogala, reaffirming the support of the community for Gov. Otti’s administration.

The further expressed their readiness to vote Gov Alex Otti and the member representing Umuahia Central State Constituency, Hon. Anthony Chinasa in the 2027 general elections.

On her part, Mrs. Onwukwe Joy who is the owner of the Land allegedly bought by the Deputy Governor, denied knowing nor ever seeing the deputy governor let alone discussing the sales or purchase of the property.

The community pleaded with the general public not to tanish the reputation of the people of Afaraukwu with false claims as they won’t take such lightly.
