Abia: Amoji Imenyi Calls Out the Mayor of Bende LGA Over Poor Condition of Their Health Centre

The good people of Amoji Imenyi in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State have called on the Mayor of Bende local government area, Bassey Uwabunkonye to be all inclusive in his administration, asking for fairness and recognition and urgent intervention to the condition of the Health Centre in the area.

Speaking to Dreamnews over the weekend, a concerned citizen of Amoji Imenyi, Emeka Loveday in a statement urged Mayor Bassey Uwabunkonye to prioritize critical areas, and by every honest assessment, the health centre in Amoji Imenyi.

According to him, the choice of Mayor Bassey to commission the retrofitting of the health centre in Akoli Imenyi without deeming it necessary to visit and assess the condition of the Amoji Imenyi Health Centre is “troubling and deeply concerning”.

“It is both disappointing and deeply concerning that the Mayor of Bende LGA chose to commission the retrofitting of the health centre in Akoli Imenyi without deeming it necessary to visit and assess the condition of the Amoji Imenyi Health Centre”.

The Amoji Imenyi business mogul and politician posited that “leadership is not only about commissioning projects where it is convenient—it is about identifying and responding to areas of greatest need. Even if Amoji Imenyi was not scheduled for intervention at this time, a simple visit or a word of assurance would have gone a long way. Hope, after all, is the least a leader owes his people”.

The statement posted on his social media handle, accompanied by a video of the dilapidated health facility said “it is even more troubling that there was an attempt—whether by error or misinformation—to suggest that Amoji Imenyi had benefited from recent retrofitting efforts. Such misrepresentation only deepens the frustration of people who are already grappling with visible hardship. The quick correction of that claim only reinforces the reality we live with daily”.

“We cannot continue to echo that governance is working at the top while the reality at the grassroots tells a different story. Development must not be selective. Every community matters. Every life matters”, he added.

“This is a call, not just for action, but for responsible leadership. The people are watching. History is recording. And indeed, as our elders would say, even the unseen bear witness”.
