A Nigerian, based abroad, Sunday Anozie has called for justice, following the destruction of a fence he erected in his family compound at Isiokpo, Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State.

Sunday who spoke through his immediate elder sister, Chinweoke Anozie on Wednesday at Zone 9 Police Command Headquarters, Umuahia, Abia State , said that the fence he constructed on a land given to him by his late father, was allegedly pulled down by some members of his family.

According to Chinweoke Anozie, hired thugs allegedly led by Anthony Anozie, a nephew to Sunday Anozie were responsible for the act, adding that Anthony’s mother, kemdiri, and other supporters allegedly participated in the destruction.

Speaking in lamentation on Wednesday at Zone 9 where the case is being investigated, the immediate elder sister to Sunday Anozie, Chinweoke Anozie said that her brother erected a fence on a portion of land given to him by his late father before the father’s death.

She stated that the fence which was initially demolished to middle size by the accused persons in early part of February 2026, was again crushed to rubbles on February 15, 2026 by the same group of thugs, in total disrespect to the ongoing peace efforts of the Police and community elders.

Apart from the demolition, Chinweoke cried out that a gate erected in the compound was also damaged , even as she alleged that those responsible for the destructions threatened to harm her.

She bemoaned that those who carried out the destructions also refused to obey the peaceful counseling from community elders.

” They took this matter to Uruala Customary Court against us. The matter came up on February 6th and February 11th 2026 yet they refused to appear before the Court to defend their case even though they were the people that filed the case.

” Instead of allowing the Court and the Police to determine the matter, they resorted to violent destruction.

” The fence was destroyed and a Gate in the compound was also damaged by the same group, with the support of my late brother’s wife, Kemdiri” she alleged.

However, while defending herself against the allegations on Wednesday, Mrs Kemdiri Anozie whose son, Anthony was accused of leading a squad that demolished the fence, exonerated her son of any involvement.

She also rejected the allegations that she supported and supervised the demolition of the structures as presented by Chinweoke.

” My son is innocent of these allegations. He knows nothing about the destruction. My son is a responsible citizen who is learning a work, he is not violent.

“Also, it is wrong to accuse me of supporting or supervising the destructions.

” I came back from the Church that fateful morning and saw that the fence had been destroyed. I know nothing about the destruction “, she told the Zone 9 Police.

Meanwhile, the Quick Response Unit of Zone 9 which is handling the case, urged the two parties to maintain peace and allow the investigation on the matter to progress.

The Quick Response Unit which expressed dissatisfaction with the demolition of the fence while Investigation was still on, urged the two parties to return to the Zone on April 2, 2026 with their witnesses, for amicable resolution of the matter.

The Zone 9 Police made it clear that it was interested in restoring peace and love among the family members.

The Unit therefore asked Mrs Kemdiri Anozie to bring her son , Anthony Anozie to the Zone on April 2, 2026 to respond to allegations leveled against him.
