2027: My 2018 Post Against Otti Not A Discovery, I Was PDP Campaign Spokesman – Ememanka
Director General of Abia State Strategic Communication Bureau, Onyebuchi Ememanka, has dismissed the recirculation of a 2018 post where he criticized Governor Alex Otti, describing those behind it as intellectually lazy.
In a statement titled “Intellectual Laziness Is A Terrible Disease” on Facebook, Ememanka said he had been away from the platform for two days due to a memorial service for his late elder brother, only to notice persons celebrating what he wrote against Otti in September 2018.
“Is my political history now a secret? So why are these people celebrating and laughing as if they suddenly discovered something new?” he queried.
Ememanka explained that by September 2018, he had been appointed Director of Media, Information and Communications of the Abia State PDP Central Campaign Council for the 2019 elections, serving as the main spokesman of the party’s campaign structure.
“For these people whose brains are on holiday, let me remind them that the job of a Campaign Spokesman is to market his Party and her Candidates to the electorate and at the same time, demarket opposing parties and their candidates,” he stated.
He questioned why anyone would be surprised that he wrote and spoke against Otti who was then the APGA candidate in 2019.
“So as Campaign Spokesman of the PDP in 2018, why is anyone surprised that I wrote and spoke against Dr Alex Otti who was Candidate of APGA in the 2019 election. What was I supposed to do then? Clap for him?” he said.
Ememanka noted that several persons who hold positions in the Otti administration today were also in PDP in 2018 and worked for the party’s victory, adding that political realignment is normal.
“What is important now is that I am with Governor Alex Otti and I am working hard to support his administration, like many others, and working to ensure that he will be resoundingly reelected in the 2027 election,” he said.
The DG likened his case to footballers who switch clubs, citing Kai Havertz who won the Champions League for Chelsea but now scores against them for Arsenal.
“One of the qualities of a good administrator is the ability to headhunt top talents and Governor Otti has proven that when it comes to that area, he is top on the list,” he added.
He accused the opposition of confusion ahead of 2027, saying they have nothing to campaign with except dragging his 2018 post.
“If the idea behind this is to blackmail me emotionally, then it’s ridiculous because this is very infantile,” Ememanka stated.
