A renowned philanthropist and illustrious son of Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, Hon. Ezenwa Igwe (Triple C), has called on political actors in the state to ensure that their campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections are based on issues and not on rancour, bitterness and character assassination.

Hon. Igwe, who has over the years through his Ezenwa Igwe Foundation (NGO), imparted positively on the lives of indigent students, widows, youths and the less privileged across Ikwuano and beyond through scholarships, empowerment programmes and community development initiatives, said Abia cannot afford to return to the era of politics of hatred and violence.

In a strongly worded statement issued in Umuahia on Thursday, the respected community leader warned that the rising tempo of political insults, blackmail and mudslinging among supporters of various political camps is capable of overheating the polity and truncating the peace currently enjoyed in the state.

“Enough is enough. Abia political actors must be told in clear terms that Abians are tired of politics of bitterness and rancour. What our people want to hear is how you intend to fix our roads, create jobs for our graduates, secure our communities and improve our schools and hospitals. Any campaign that is not anchored on issues is an insult to the intelligence of Abians,” Hon. Igwe declared.

He condemned in strong terms the desperation of some politicians who resort to propaganda and falsehood to malign their opponents, insisting that such conduct is not only anti-democratic but also an exhibition of emptiness and lack of vision.

Hon. Igwe who is the CEO of Ezemac NCD Int’l Company, located in Cross Cross River State, South South, Nigeria, particularly charged Abia youths not to allow themselves to be used as political thugs and agents of destruction by selfish politicians who do not mean well for them.

He said, “To our vibrant youths, I say this with all sense of responsibility: Do not allow any politician to use you as a thug. You are too precious to be wasted. No politician will call his own child to carry arms or snatch ballot boxes, so why should you offer yourself? Instead of being used for violence, participate actively in the democratic process by demanding accountability, asking the right questions and voting your conscience.”

According to him, the youth remain the greatest asset of Abia State and must channel their energy towards productive ventures and active participation in governance rather than being willing tools for electoral violence.

Hon. Igwe, the proprietor of Igwe Triple C Farms, located in Ariam, Ikwuano LGA of Abia State, reiterated his commitment to the continued upliftment of the people of Ikwuano and Abia State, noting that true leadership is measured by positive impact on humanity and not by how much noise one makes on social media.

He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and traditional institutions to play their part in ensuring a peaceful, credible and violence-free electoral process come 2027.
