Trust In God, Participate In Politics, Knights President-General Tells Nigerians, Youths

The President-General of the Joint Council of Knights, Nigeria and Diaspora, Sir Bernard Nwogu, has urged Nigerians to put absolute trust in God over the affairs of the nation, saying God always provides leaders for every season.

Sir Nwogu stated this in an interview in Aba on Sunday on the sidelines of a Thanksgiving service for the former Chairman of the Labour Party in Abia, Chief Emmanuel Otti at St Michaels Anglican cathedral, where he said Christians should continue to pray for leaders and have confidence that God is aware of every situation.

“It’s just to hand over everything to God, because what we are doing is to trust in what God can do. If you look into the scriptures, in Kings and Chronicles, God knows the times, and He always supplies the leaders in those times. He will say, go and anoint this person, you will be my king,” he said.

According to him, anyone who runs foul of God’s time will not continue, adding that Christians should maintain absolute trust in God.

“What I want people to do this time is to have absolute confidence in God. What He wants from us as Christians is to continue absolute trust and confidence in God. We continue to pray for the leaders,” he added.

Speaking on youth participation in politics, the Knights President-General urged young people to come out and be actively involved in the electoral process rather than staying away.

“The young people are supposed to come out and be part of what is happening because those days they used to tell us the future belongs to the youth,” he said.

He advised youths to go beyond social media activities and take concrete steps by registering as voters and voting on election day.

“What they need to do is to come out, register as voters and on that day of voting they come to the polling stations and vote. Sometimes people say the votes don’t count but the votes count so far as the youths come out, they form the majority,” he stated.

He further urged youths to shun distractions such as gambling and football on election days and ensure they vote for candidates they consider worthy.

“They don’t need to stay away. On that day of election, they should come out and ensure that they vote for the candidates they like,” Sir Nwogu said.
