The Martins Vincent Otse Initiative (MVOI), founded by social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has commissioned a new water borehole at Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba.

The facility was officially handed over to the institution on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, by the VDM technical team and received by the Rector, Engr. Dr. Christopher Okoro Kalu.

The project was executed by the VDM team led by Engr. Dominion Godson.

According to Godson, the team first visited the Polytechnic on July 24, 2026, to present the proposal. Following approval from the Rector, drilling, installation, tiling and other works were carried out behind the ICT Auditorium.

“Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic is the third institution to benefit from the organisation’s intervention,” Godson said.

He explained that while the team primarily targets rural communities, it also responds to identified needs in institutions. He noted that a conventional pumping system was chosen because the Polytechnic has stable access to electricity.

Godson commended the Rector and Polytechnic Management for their cooperation during the project.

Receiving the project, the Rector praised VeryDarkMan for translating his online influence into tangible community service.

“It is one thing to be on social media, and another thing to have impact,” Dr. Kalu said.

He said the intervention came at a critical time as ongoing infrastructural works had affected some buildings and existing water channels in the school.

“On behalf of the Council, Management, Staff and Students of this Polytechnic, we want to thank VDM. This complements what His Excellency, Dr. Alex C. Otti OFR, is doing,” the Rector added.

Dr. Kalu also welcomed the intervention in Abia State, stressing that contributors to the state’s development do not have to be indigenes. He prayed for God’s protection and strength for VeryDarkMan to sustain his public service work.

The newly completed borehole, located behind the ICT Auditorium, bears the inscription “The Ratal Family Worldwide, July 2026.”

The VDM Foundation says its focus areas include provision of potable water, youth empowerment, and social support for communities and public institutions across Nigeria.
