Xmas: Mrs Okoro Spreads Love In Destitute Homes

The wife of the Rector of Ogbonnaya Ọnụ Polytechnic Aba, Mrs Geraldine Okoro has emphasized the need for individuals to extend their milk of kindness to the less privileged in the society, especially this yuletide season.

Mrs Okoro stated this in Aba on Wednesday when she visited Ngwa Road Motherless Babies’ Home, Aba to donate food items and other materials to the children.

“The season we have to celebrate, the birtj of our Lord Jesus Christ, and we have come to celebrate these ones also, to also show them love, that we care, and also to remind them that the comfort they deserve, we have come to give them.”

Speaking with journalists, Mrs Okoro said the gesture was born out of her compassion, as a mother who understands the psychological effect of a child growing without a mother.

“As a mother, I have my own kids and I know what it feels, not to have parents, especially a mother. So when I think of or remember the less privileged or the motherless babies who don’t have their own biological mother, I get emotional.”

According to her, the inspiration to reach out to the down troden came from the footsteps of Abia’s first lady, Mrs Priscilla Otti who is very compassionate and has shown same through her foundation.

“I get my inspiration from the first lady of the state, the wife of the Executive Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti. We are here to support all the good words she has been showing the people of Abia, through her foundation.”

Mr Okoro further called on Abians and Nigerians in general to as support caregivers, stressing that their kind of job comes with a lot of demands, while encouraging the caregivers to patient with the children. She acknowledged the difficulty of taking care of children who are not your own.

“The caregivers should be supported. It’s not easy to take care of children who are not your biological children. But what I ask is for them to show love.”

She said the goodwill train would also extend to other destitute homes in other parts of the state.

Responding, Goodness Ifeanyi who spoke on behalf of the management of Ngwa Road Motherless Babies’ Home appreciated Mrs Okoro for her kind gesture.
