THOSE HOUSE MEMBERS WHO LEFT PDP ARE “FOOD IS READY” POLITICIANS – AMAH ABRAHAM

The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has admitted that the “imposition of candidates” on the party was the major reason for their abysmal outing in the 2023 elections in the state.

The state Chairman of the party, Elder Abraham Amah made the clarification on Friday during an interview with a radio station (Spin 95.3 FM) in Umuahia.

According to Amah, the party has realized that the imposition of candidates was their greatest undoing. Among other reasons, imposition of candidates, pride, and complacency contributed to their failure in the 2023 elections.

“We know that the imposition of candidates was the major reason we lost the election in 2023.”

When asked what the party is doing to bounce back in future elections, he categorically said the party would no longer give room for imposition of candidates.

“As I’m talking to you, the party has decided that nobody anywhere will impose any candidate on the party. Those going for House of Assembly will be decided by delegates from that constituency, those going for House of Representatives will be decided by delegates from that constituency and those going for Senate will be decided by delegates from that senatorial zone and the governorship candidate will be decided by delegates from all the local government areas.”

On the issue of the mass defection that plagued the party, especially by members of the House of Assembly, Amah said he had intelligence that four members of the house would leave the party.

So far, the member representing Isiala Ngwa South State Constituency, Honourable Chinwendu Roland, the member representing Isiala Ngwa North State constituency, Honourable Ugochukwu Collins and the member representing Isuikwuato state constituency, Honourable Lucky Johnson have all dumped the main opposition party in the state for the ruling Labour Party.

Elder Abraham Amah said he was not surprised that they left, adding that the major reason for their departure was to go to where the food is ready.

“These are “food is ready” politicians who want to enjoy already made food.”

He maintained that the party is coming back stronger to win major elections in the state.

He took a swipe at Governor Alex Otti whom he said would come back to the PDP because the party made him (the governor) adding that the governor is “on loan” with the Labour Party

“Those who left the party are on loan, if sports allow players to go on loan, it is also allowed in politics.”

“There is no politician in Abia State that did not go through the PDP.”

Amah also was of the opinion that the performance of Governor Otti was as a result of the foundation laid by his predecessor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu whom he said made available to Otti, a loan of one hundred and fifty million dollars ($150 million) from the World Bank, before leaving office in 2023.

Amah asked why any government would not perform with such amount of money available for start up.
