The Abia Patriots Warns Against Peddling False Narratives Against Government Policies
A Civil Society Organization, “The Abia Patriots” has issued a strong warning to those people peddling false discussions concerning the revocation of the Certificate of Occupancy of the Abia Hotels Umuahia by the Abia State Government, insinuating that it was politically motivated.
The Media Directorate of the group in a statement on Monday night expressed disgust that Abians, despite witnessing the rate of development in the state by the present administration still choose to peddle falsehood.
It cautioned those behind the narrative that the revocation was as a result of the event organized by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu for his Renewed Hope Partners which took place in the facility not long ago to desist from politicizing government policies without substance.
The statement said the government couldn’t have been so petty to revoke an operational license simply because a member of an opposition party used it for a political gathering, adding that there is no such pattern in the present government in Abia.
“We, The Abia Patriots hereby strongly condemn the false, misleading and malicious insinuation that the Abia State Government revoked the Certificate of Occupancy of the Abia Hotels Umuahia from Investment Guarantee Limited.”
“The present administration in the state has not set any such pattern before now. Opposition party members have been using public facilities for their events without molestation or harassment.”
“We urge those behind the false narrative to desit from such, forthwith.*
It further pointed out that those behind the discussion to retrace their steps and quit heating up the polity unnecessarily.
According to the statement, the government has the right to enter into agreement with private businesses and as well has the right to revoke the pact whenever it seems it fit to do so.
It further made clear that the statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ụkọha Njọkụ Ụkọha made it clear that the company Investment Guarantee Limited, failed to meet up with the terms of agreement, after twelve years of operation.
In a related development, the group also faulted a Facebook post by the Factional Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Abia State, Don Norman Obinna.

Don Norman had posted on his Facebook page that “The new Abia Saints stole N50m from d N500m compensation Randy received for d revocation of the 25- yrs agreement for Abia Hotels Umuahia”

It further cautioned Don Norman Obinna not to play bitter politics rather let him verify information and criticize constructively.
The statement concluded by calling on Abians to support the development scheme of the present administration in the state and to show Patriotism.
