Prof Okenwa Drums Support for Globus Bank
The founder and Pro Chancellor of Lux Mundi University, Umuahia Abia State, Profesor Gabriel Okenwa has commended the management of Globus Bank Plc for expanding their business to Umuahia, the Abia state capital.
Prof. Okenwa gave the commendation in Umuahia on Tuesday, at the official opening ceremony of the Globus Bank branch. The Umuahia branch of the bank was officially opened to begin full time banking business by the Executive Director, Mr Sunday Ilegar.
Prof. Okenwa said the opening of the bank in Umuahia would drive more development in the state capital and Abia in general. He eulogized the bank for their support for businesses across the country, especially the role the bank played in the discovery of Lux Mundi University Umuahia.
Lux Mundi University is the first university to be situated in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.
He expressed optimism that the bank would live an indelible mark on Abians.
The University Don went ahead to recall his days at United Bank for Africa, UBA and Zenith Bank Plc. He vehemently said that Globus Bank has come to take over the banking business in Abia, urging the state government to partner with the partner with the bank for speedy development.
Earlier, Sunday Ilegar, the Executive Director, Globus Bank Plc, said the bank commenced full operation on November 2019 after it was licenced by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), saying their aim is to re-shape the frontiers of banking in the country, particularly Umuahia while also fulfilling their corporate social responsibility.


He expressed optimism that the bank now in Umuahia, a serene environment, will break even with a view to meeting the financial and global needs of the customers, adding that the bank is poised to revolutionize the banking sector.
Ilegar also stated that their coming to Umuahia, is to assist in the development of the State, assuring that they will contribute their quota in creating jobs for the unemployed, while soliciting the support of Government of Abia State ably led by Governor Alex Otti, stakeholders and the general public to ensure they reshape the banking sector.
He also commended the Governor of the State, Governor Alex Otti for the infrastructure put in place in the State, noting that the serenity and infrastructure in existence in the state is what propelled them to nurse the thought of having a branch in Umuahia, the State Capital.
