The crisis rocking the Labour Party climaxed on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, following the suspension and counter suspension of key members of the party.

Their suspension was contained in statement on Wednesday signed by the party secretary, Farouk Ibrahim and made available to newsmen.

Recall that Abure and his exco had set up a disciplinary committee to investigate Dr Alex Otti over alleged anti party activities and given a fortnight to submit their report.

Following the submission of the report of the committee, though in less than one week, the party resolved to suspend Governor Otti and the other members.

In a swift response, the Senator Nenadi Usman led Caretaker Committee of the party convened an emergency meeting late Wednesday evening to x-ray Abure and his executive committee.

Julius Abure, particularly , the continued impersonation of the esteemed office of the National Chairman of the Labour Party. These actions have not only violated the spirit and letter of the law but have also brought the image and integrity of our great party to disrepute.”

“In the exercise of its constitutional mandate and in strict accordance with disciplinary provisions of the Labour Party constitution, 2019 (As Amended), the NEC, in session hereby announces the “immediate suspension” of Bar.
