JUST IN: FRESH GUN ATTACK IN IMO COMMUNITY CLAIMS 10 LIVES

No fewer than ten persons have been reportedly killed in a fresh gun attack at various locations in Okigwe Imo State.

A video circulating on social media showed dead bodies of young men and women lying in their own pool of blood.

A source close to the location of the attacks who pleaded anonymity told Dream News on the phone that one of the attacks took place at Ogii area of Okigwe and another one at Umuokpara.

According to him, the attack took place at a funeral wake when gunmen came and opened fire on them and many were killed.

The source said those who were not at the venue were ambushed and shot at a different locations. He said they began hearing gun shots in the early hours of Thursday, June 12, 2025 around 3 a.m.

“We started hearing gunshots at about 3am on Thursday morning. Then later in the morning, we heard shouts and cries. The dead bodies were gathered somewhere and they were young men and women.”

“Those people went to a burial wake when some people came and started shooting and many of them were killed. Those who were not there were ambushed and killed in another location.”

“If you count the bodies that were gathered there, they are more than ten of them. This happened in Umuokpara, Ogii and other places.”

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Office for Imo State Command, SP Henry Okoye did not pick up his calls, neither did he respond to messages sent to him.
