I’m Not A Meddlesome Interloper – Chief Madubuko

Chief Barth Azubuike Madubuko, the Grand Patron of Ekeoha Market Traders Association has debunked claims that he was negotiating a sub contract from Rhino Homes, the company handling the remodeling of the market.

Chief Azubuike made the clarification, following a viral video where he was accused of medling into the affairs of the of the market remodeling due to his influence and interest.

In the video, the former chairman of the market Mr Pascal popularly known as Hunter and the incumbent chairman, Mr Emeka Okeke and the managing director of Rhino Homes, who accused Chief Madubuko of trying to disrupt the remodeling of the market because he was not granted his desire to be given part of the market to reconstruct, which the men in the video said was given another person.

In a chat with newsmen, Chief Madubuko expressed disappointment with his accusers, saying the allegations are “baseless and misleading” and a machination of his detractors.

“There is no way a person of my caliber will condescend so low to the level of trying to negotiate with the MD of Rhino Homes or anyone for the purpose of remodeling a section of the market.”

Chief Madubuko said he would seek a redress through a legal means.

“I have already contacted my lawyers, I won’t let this malicious accusation go under the carpet.”

Chief Madubuko is of the opinion that the original shop owners should be given first choice in re-allocation of ships and the outrageous sum of money 10 million naira which they have pegged as the amount for the shops should be reviewed, adding that the aim of the remodeling is the improvement on the standards of the shops being constructed.

On their parts, Mr Innocent Anosike and another member of Concerned Ekeoha Traders Association, who is also a former chairman of the market, Mr Chinyere Matthew supported the position of Chief Madubuko.

“We the traders have tried to have a meeting with the chairman of the market Mr Emeka Okeke but he has been avoiding the meeting”, Anosike intoned.

“There is a need for the shops to be completed before being offered for sale” he added .

Mr Matthew said, “We are all in support of remodeling of the market, and we want the governor to do it well, but from the look of things what we see is far from what was promised.”
