GROUP FAULTS DEPUTY SPEAKER’S PERFORMANCE, COMMENDS AMOBI OGAH

A Right Group, Abia Coalition For Justice and Equity, ACJE, has expressed deep disappointment with the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu over what it described as “egregious failure” to deliver meaningful development to his Bende Federal constituency.

In a statement on Monday, the group carpeted the Deputy Speaker, alluding to a recent publication by Hon. Kalu, describing it as a stark reminder of his “incompetence and blatant neglect of the people he pretends to represent.”

“We are compelled to express my deep disappointment and frustration with Hon Ben Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, for his egregious failure to deliver meaningful development to our constituency. His recent publication of projects, touted as achievements, is a stark reminder of his incompetence and blatant neglect of the people he pretends to represent.”

The statement which was signed by the convener of the group, Comrade Okwute Otuonye, compared him with the member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi in the House of Representatives, Hon. Amobi Ogah, saying Ogah’s achievements in just over two years in office is a damning indictment of Kalu’s performance.

“A comparison with Hon Amobi Ogah’s delivery in two years of representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal constituency, is a damning indictment of Kalu’s performance. While Ogah has delivered impressive projects, including modern markets, solid roads, and upgraded healthcare facilities in just under two years, Kalu’s six-year tenure(with two years as Deputy Speaker ) has yielded paltry dividends, with projects that could have been executed by a councillor from any of the 13 wards in Bende Local Government Area.”

It continued, “Kalu’s commitment to education is nothing but a publicity stunt, with his focus on acquiring multiple university degrees to feed his ego rather than genuinely empowering our people. Meanwhile, Ogah has constructed new classroom blocks and empowered constituents with scholarship grants.”

It accused the Deputy Speaker of creating divisions in Abia State, while commending Ogah whom it said is busy proactively fighting against the marginalization of his Isuikwuato LGA by championing the creation of Etiti State, which it said would bring development and opportunities to his region.

Kalu’s actions are a clear indication that he is more interested in pursuing personal ambitions than serving the people of Bende.”

“The people of Bende deserve better. They deserve a representative who is committed to their welfare, not one who uses his office for personal gain. This is a wake up call. It is time for Kalu to reflect on his priorities and deliver on his promises or make way for someone who will”, it concluded.
