Governor Otti Pledges Equity In Labour Party

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has warmly received into the Labour Party members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Isialangwa South of the state.

Among the defectors were Gershon Amuta, the leader of the PDP in Isialangwa alongside Chief Chinagorom Nwankpa and hundreds of their supporters.

This significant gathering took place on Tuesday, at Isieketa, Isialangwa South.

Governor Otti emphasized that this event marks not a defection, but rather a joyous reception of brothers and sisters who have chosen to join the Labour Party.

“This is not a defection; it is the reception of our brothers and sisters, some of whom have been with us even before now and we are glad to officially welcome them into the party,” Otti declared.

He further highlighted the inclusive nature of the Labour Party, stating, “In the Labour Party, everyone is equal, whether you joined 20 years ago or you are joining today. The day you join the Labour Party, you assume a position of equality with everyone.”

The Governor instructed all Mayors to ensure that everyone is properly integrated into the party, stressing that no one should face discrimination.

“I don’t want to hear that anybody is discriminated against. I don’t want to hear that somebody was not well received,” he emphasized.

During the event, Governor Otti also announced that work would soon commence on the Okpualangwa General Hospital.

“In the next few days, you will see active work at the General Hospital in Okpualangwa. We have awarded it to a world-class contractor, and they have mobilized and will start work very soon. Between 6 and 9 months, they will deliver a state-of-the-art General Hospital in Okpuala Ngwa,” he stated.

The Governor expressed gratitude to the people for their continued support and assured them that his government would keep working in their best interest.

“We will continue to work until the last day. So, if you have a few roads that are not good, don’t worry. We are coming there,” he said.

On his part, the Acting State Chairman of the Labour Party in Abia State, Sir Emmanuel Otti congratulated the new entrants for the bold decision, adding that the good works of Governor Otti is the attraction that drew them into the party.

He stressed that the dark days of Abia are over, adding that the New Abia has become a reality.

Senator Darlington Nwokocha, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, and Hon. Dennis Chinwendu Rowland praised the Governor’s achievements and expressed confidence in his reelection in 2027, citing the caliber of individuals joining the party as a testament to its growing strength.

The new entrants into the Labour Party, including Chief Chinagorom Nwankpa, Hon. Barr. Remijus Nji, Edwin Ihejirika, Sir Patrick Njoku, and Lady Gloria Agomuo.

They attributed their decision to join the party to Governor Otti’s impressive achievements. They pledged their unwavering support for the Governor and his reelection bid in 2027.

The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including the former Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, former SSG, Dr. Emeh Okoro, and HRM. Eze Nelson Nmeregwa, among others.
