The Rector of Dr Ogbonnaya Ọnụ Polytechnic Aba, Abia State, Dr Ogbonnaya Okoro has showered gratitude on the governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti for the intervention work at the “Ugwu Omere-nama” erosion site along the Idima Abam road in Arochuchukwu Local Government Area.

Speaking to journalists on Saturday, September 23, 2025, during an inspection tour of the work done there and the road construction on the road, Dr Okoro described Governor Otti as a “true definition of a Christian”, adding that the governor did not just give the people of Idima Abam road, rather he saved lives.

The Rector who is now popularly known as the “Star Boy” of the governor Otti led administration in Abia State could not hide his emotions as he recalled the pain and the suffering the people of Idima Abam have been through as a result of the bad state of the road.

He went down memory lane to recall his personal experience of what, according to him would have been a fatal accident involving his vehicle but was saved by God’s grace.

“This spot has been a death trap. It has been like this for as long as you can remember. The governor did not know what he did for us. He did not just give us roads, he has saved lives.”

“Let me tell you, in fact, Governor Alex Chioma Otti, Chioma ndi Abia is a Christian. The governor is the true definition of a Christian.”

Dr Okoro said it was not imaginable that Idima Abam could use the road in the near future because of the level of decay, as the erosion cut off the people of Idima Abam from the rest of the world.

He recalled the trauma the people faced after it made the rural dwellers feel they were no longer part of the state.

He thanked the governor once again for giving them hope and a sense of belonging.

“This particular place could swallow a twenty story building because of the depth. It cut off the community from Abia State. Nobody thought we would use this road now. But look at what Dr Alex Otti has done. He has given us hope and a sense of belonging.”

“Honestly I can’t thank the governor enough for what he did for us.”

The train made another stop at the popular Omenuko Bridge in Ozu-Abam which the governor recently completed.

The Rector described the project as a masterpiece of world class standards. He posited that the old bridge represents the old Abia while the new one, constructed by Dr Alex Otti is the new Abia.

“You can see the difference between the old Abia and the new Abia. This bridge is world class. The best you can see anywhere in the world.”

“Remember that ‘they’ said “mammy water” did not let them build this bridge, but today Dr Alex Otti has conquered mammy water and we have what we can call a bridge here today.”

The Star Boy, appreciated the governor for the good work he is doing in Abia State, while encouraging him not to relent, with assurance of continued support.

Dr Ogbonnaya Okoro has been on the spotlight for his outstanding achievements as the Rector of the Dr Ogbonnaya Ọnụ Polytechnic Aba.
