Enugu LP Collapses Into ADC

The leadership of Enugu State chapter of the Labour Party has announced the collapse of the party structures to support the opposition coalition party, the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

The party in a letter dated July 3, 2025 addressed to all party stakeholders and endorsed by Chief Kingsley Ugwu, the party said the move was to contribute to the movement for achieving a better Nigeria and working with their principal, Peter Obi.

Though the letter affirmed that they remained committed members of the Labour party, it stated unequivocally that it would start advertising the agenda of the ADC in all the 160 wards in Enugu State.

The letter reads: “This is an official message from the leadership of the Labour Party Enugu State. We are pleased to announce that the Labour Party Enugu State has officially embraced the coalition to contribute to the movement for achieving a better Nigeria, working together with our principal, Peter Obi.”

“While we remain committed members of the Labour Party, we recognize the importance of collaboration and unity in pursuit of our shared goals. As part of this effort, we are excited to announce that we can now begin to advertise the ADC agenda across all 160 wards in Enugu.”

“This initiative aims to promote our vision for a better Nigeria and engage with our communities on the issues that matter most.”

Recall that the coalition members adopted the ADC as the vehicle to Aso Villa in 2027, where former Senate president, David Mark would serve as interim chairman while former minister for interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola was announced as the secretary.

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, former Vice president, Atiku Abubakar, former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi among other to politicians are part of the coalition which aims to unseat Tinubu in 2027.
