Dr C.K. Okoro Preaches Skill And Innovation As Ogbonnaya Ọnụ Polytechnic Graduates 2,178 Students

The Rector, Ogbonnaya Ọnụ Polytechnic Aba, Dr Christopher Kalu Okoro has charged young graduates of the school to put God first, as they step into the society , after years of rigorous learning and training.

Dr Okoro gave the Charge in Aba on Friday, December 5, 2025, during his speech at the 22nd Convocation Ceremony of the institution held at the Convocation Arena of the Ogbonnaya Ọnụ Polytechnic Aba.

He emphasized the need for young people to acknowledge God in their dealings, adding that when one makes God his guide, God in turn would light the one’s path. He made reference to the Bible book of Proverbs chapter three, verse six.

He laid it bare on the importance of embodying integrity, pointing out that the name of the institution, Dr Ogbonnaya Ọnụ Polytechnic, demands character, urging the fresh graduates to honour and guide their names by living above reproach.

Speaking further, Dr Okoro who recently completed his first degree in Law, emphasized humility as the ladder to greatness.

He said, “Walk with God, in all your ways, acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths. Let God be your guide in this new chapter.”

“Embody integrity, the name you now bear; Ogbonnaya Ọnụ, demands character. Guard your honour by protecting your name and living above reproach.”

“Remain humble, humility is the ladder to greatness. Treat everyone with utmost respect.”

Dr Okoro encouraged them to be skillful and never stop learning urging them to let their skills create value even as their ideas solve problems, alluding to Thomas Edison, who said, “Genius is one percent inspiration and nine-nine percent perspiration”.

He added that the world needs and rewards continuous learners, with emphasis on the need to upgrade their knowledge, sharpen their skills and stay relevant.

The Rector, Dr Christopher Kalu Okoro did not leave any stone unturned in expressing gratitude to the Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti for his numerous efforts in reshaping the institution.

He was grateful to the Governing Council, Chaired by Mr Stanley Egege and the school’s Management Team for their various contributions in running the day to day activities of the institution.

During the event, the Governor, Dr Alex Otti announced another one hundred million naira grant to one hundred graduates with demonstrable business ideas.

Recall that last year, one hundred and fifty graduates of the school were promised one million naira grant to support their business, the Rector announced that the process of screening was completed and funds disbursed.
