Chief Nnamdi Iro Oji Leads Campaign For Voter’s Registration In Abia

An Abia born business mogul and philanthropist, Chief Nnamdi Iro Oji has called on Abians, especially women to get more involved in politics and jettison the idea of tagging it a dirty game.

Chief Iro was reacting to the recent report of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC on the figures of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration CVR, which placed Abia as the state with the lowest number of registrations.

In a statement by his media office, made available to newsmen on Thursday, October 16, 2025, the Abirirba born politician, popularly known as “Opotoyom” called on Abians to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration CVR to acquire their Permanent Voters’ Cards ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The former senatorial candidate of the Labour Party for Abia North in the 2023 elections regretted the voter apathy in the state as portrayed by the report, while urging Abians to get more involved in politics to deepen democracy.

According to him, politics is a business of all as it is one of the finest tools to drive development. He encouraged residents and citizens to participate in the process of choosing those who handle the affairs of the country, state and local government among others.
