Chief Henry Ikoh Distributes Free Petrol To Keke Operators In Umuahia

A former Minister of Science and Technology, Chief Henry Ikoh on Wednesday September 17, 2025, distributed petrol to Tricycle Operators in Umuahia the Abia State capital free of charge.

The free petrol distribution which took place at Superlative Winners Filling Station, Aba Road Umuahia saw tricycle operators (Keke Riders) in the state capital come out in their numbers to benefit from the gesture.

The man behind the milk of humanity, Chief Henry Ikoh said the tricycle operators are major stakeholders in the economy of the state and deserves assistance.

“Our Keke riders are the backbone of grassroots mobility. They move our people daily, and in these hard times, a little support goes a long way.”

Chief Ikoh said the Keke riders contribute in no small measure to the internally generated revenue of the state, saying the free petrol distribution is in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the president to help raise families above poverty line.

“The Keke riders are major stakeholders and contributors to the revenue of the state. They buy tickets everyday and the money goes into the government coffers.”

“We have to encourage them, and that is why I gave them my widow’s mite in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President.”

“The economy is on the path of recovery and my people need support. With what we have done, it will help them to an extent. We must continue to encourage and support our people in any way we can. We rise by lifting others.”

The former minister also assured that similar interventions would be extended to other parts of Abia State in due course.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to Dreamnews lauded Chief Ikoh for his generosity and concern for the welfare of ordinary citizens, describing him as a leader with a human touch.

For Mr James Nwatu: “I’m very surprised to this this happen this early morning and I pray that God will continue to bless Chief Henry Ikoh.”

Another operator, Ifeanyi Udeme, he simply said, Thank you Chief Ikoh and God bless you.
