Chief Henry Ikoh Cautions Politicians Against Heating Up The Polity

A former minister for Science and Technology, Chief Henry Ikoh has called on politicians in the state to desist from heating up the Abia polity, ahead of the 2027 elections.

Chief Ikoh in a telephone conversation with journalists in Umuahia on Thursday said the tension in the political atmosphere of Abia State is unnecessary and as a matter of urgency should be allowed to cool down.

“The political tension in the state in unnecessary. The 2027 elections is still two year ls away and we are heating up the polity. There is no need for that. I am urging everyone involved to sheath their swords let’s focus on developing Abia.”

His remark is coming on the heels of the political verbal war going on among politicians in the state.

The Ikwuano born industrialist warned that every politician in the state should think Abia first and see others as brothers and partners in progress irrespective of political and partisan affiliations, adding that what matters is to provide Abia with good governance, developmental projects with transparency, equity and accountability.

“I want you to know that we were first Abians before joining any political party. Our priority should be to give Abians good governance, provide development, people oriented projects, transparency, equity and accountability.”

“Remember, some of us were in the same party before interest separated us, yet that should not separate the spirit of brotherhood and sportsmanship.”

“I know a lot of people are interested in the Abia top job, there will be time for that. At the right time, we expect to hear the voice of reason.”

He further appreciated President Bola Tinubu for his magnanimity in handing over the 25 kilometers out of the 49.5 kilometers of the Ikot-Ekpene Umuahia Road to Abia State, describing it as a bold statement of compassion of the President for the people of the South East.
